Mrs. Verria C. Beckham has been a citizen of Grove Hill for over 40 years. She is a 1982 graduate of Clarke County High School. She has been married to Charles E. Beckham, Sr. for 20 years and they have one son, Charles “C.J.” E. Beckham, Jr. She attended Patrick Henry Jr. College and has been employed by South West Alabama Behavioral Health Care Systems since 2007. She has served on the Town Council since 2012 and on various boards and committees including Leadership Clarke County, Clarke County Health Care Board of Directors, GHES “After School Adventure” (ASA) Advisory Board and the Grove Hill Planning Commission.
Mrs. Beckham is a member of Berry’s Chapel AME Zion Church in Jackson, AL where she serves on the Usher Board and works closely with the youth. Her love for the youth led her to proactively seek the establishment of the A.J. Pritchett Memorial Park on Carter Drive, which was officially dedicated in October 2017. Her interests include reading and working with young people to make a positive impact in their lives. She strives to make decisions, both individually and collectively with the Town Council, which will improve and benefit the town as a whole.
